Reveal back in Computex Taiwan 2024 in June, leaks and speculations of the successor of the ASUS ROG Azoth appeared slowly way before the actual event however many wasn’t convinced of what it could be and now after experiencing first hand, this keyboard has proven itself to be much more powerful!
First Look on exterior:
Upon opening the box, the keyboard stands out on its own, giving you the metallic vibes of sturdy, hardy and cool looking perspective that drowns many other keyboards out there. This keyboard combines the factor of cool looking with a touch of black elegance that gives out a fantastic “kick” to it. With a premium aluminium-alloy chassis and metal frame combined in one, it is truly an impressive futuristic look to it that surpasses traditional mechanical keyboards!
Look at the edges and detail in each line, corners and even the keyboard feet, it is not something that you see every day, it feels like something from the movies! ASUS manage to work its magic in this keyboard giving the amazing perfection of designs that cuts through the whole look giving the wow factor. Psst, the feet are magnetic too, you can simply slide it off or put it back on if you want!
Typing experience:
Let’s move on to the typing experience, first time typing on this beast, it totally set the bar of mechanical keyboard really high. Each key pressed on its so familiar and comfortable even without the wrist rest (comes with a free wrist rest too in the package!). It simply latched on like something you use at home for a long time. Each keystroke gives off a less tiring typing experience compared to those traditional mechanical keyboards. One reason we personally love this keyboard is the switch, the switches used is the NX Snow Switch by ASUS, and it simply paired well with the Azoth Extreme! With the spring total force around 45 - 53gf, it doesn’t feel as tired compared to traditional switches that you can find out there.
How does it fair in gaming or casual use?
For keyboard enthusiasts and casual users, ASUS created different modes to suit both distinct users. ASUS took into consideration to suit different users with a simple switch. Located at the back of the keyboard, it comes with 2 modes, Soft Mode and Hard Mode.
Soft Mode:
Soft Mode gives you the ability to have a more flexible keypress for comfortable typing experience, this is often ideal for casual work, leisure or everyday use. The keyboard itself gets pushed lightly downwards with each key stroke, allowing comfort all throughout.
Hard Mode:
Gaming definitely needs fast and quick reaction, and with the Hard Mode in place it compliments gamers to the next level. With each key stroke, it gives a firmer experience compared to Soft Mode. With each keystroke, each execution on the keys feels more familiar and easier to execute for gaming, giving users reactive tap one after another.
